C&W Communications joins the global community in celebrating International Women’s Day

This year’s theme: ‘DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality’

 

C&W Communications is pleased to join the global community in celebrating International Women’s Day.

This year’s theme of ‘DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality’ is a doubly special occasion for us, as it speaks directly to the company’s mission of connecting communities and changing lives.

This theme is also aligned with the priority theme for the upcoming 67^th Session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women which is ‘Innovation and technological change, and education in the digital age for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls’. 

Against this backdrop, we are proud to recognise and celebrate the women and girls who are championing the advancement of transformative technology and digital education, while simultaneously recognising the importance of protecting the rights of women and girls in digital spaces and addressing online and ICT-facilitated gender-based violence.

The need for inclusive and transformative technology and digital education is crucial for a sustainable future, so we use this opportunity to make a clarion call for all local, regional, and international stakeholders to fully engage, represent, and empower women and girls in our digital world.

Likewise, we also applaud the decision by our parent company Liberty Latin America that provides for all new employees the benefit of maternity or paternity leave from their very first day of employment.

This maternity and paternity leave is of course in keeping with our Parental Leave Policy, which was launched on June 1, 2019 and provides 16 weeks paid maternity leave to the birthing parent and 8 weeks paid paternity leave.

C&W’s history spans more than a century and we have always been at the forefront of promoting gender equality and encouraging the full participation of women in the workplace, and we are immensely proud of the fact that in every department at every level across our company we have full representation
