Telemammography reduces waiting and diagnosis times, giving women with breast cancer faster treatment and a better prognosis.

We created Latin America’s first telemammography network in Panama. Our system creates electronic x-rays that can be reviewed by experts in other countries. We also introduced an electronic diary with automatic reminders about appointments.

We have developed several social telecoms projects for The Children’s Hospital in Panama City including:

• Intra-hospital Telemetry – extending the hospital’s semi-intensive care area to other rooms using specially developed wireless technology.
• Digital Laboratory Project – we designed a system that creates a digital record of every patient, eliminating paper and reducing the chances of misdiagnosis.

Doctors in Panama City are able to provide basic services to remote rural areas using digital video phones, digital stethoscopes and other medical devices, connected to the country’s capital using satellite links.

The Panamanian police force believes that the most useful tool it has implemented in recent years to make the streets of Panama City safer is the Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) surveillance system we created.

Over 730 cameras provide a constant stream of information to six monitoring centres. Our solution included full implementation and training.

In Panama and El Salvador the police and ambulance services can respond quicker to emergency situations thanks to the 911 call platform which we created.

When this was initially set up for Panama’s ambulance service we delivered a turn-key solution to the Government comprising not just telecommunications and training, but also eight ambulance launching sites which we built.

College and university students in the Caribbean have better access to resources and courses because the region is now linked up to the ‘academic internet’ connecting further education institutions across the world.

In addition to increasing learning opportunities, the C@ribNET broadband network we created will also improve research in the Caribbean, with academics now able to more easily interact and share data with other experts in their field.
